United Aluminium's CNC Router: preparation of CAD data

United Aluminium's Pacer 3020K CNC router can read geometric data direct from CAD files to create component cutting paths. Follow these pointers for successful data formatting:

  1. DWG (up to version R2007) is the preferred file format, but DXF is OK too.
  2. Include geometry for only 1 component per CAD file.
  3. The file must contain geometry only: lines & arcs. No borders, no text, no dimensions, no images.
  4. Ensure the lines & arcs form a continuous closed loop.
  5. Ensure there is only 1 layer of geometry; be careful not to overlay multiple instances of lines & arcs.
  6. Try to place your geometry on or close to the origin (0,0).
  7. Because there will be no text in the body of the document to indicate revision status, it's a good idea to include a revision note in the file name e.g.: "UA1234 CNC Rev A".
  8. If in doubt, please consult the Design Team for more advice.
